Herat PRT opens new Health Center

HERAT, Afghanistan – Today, in Tourghoundy village, Koshk district, a new comprehensive health center was opened by the Herat PRT.  This project, in an area close to the border with Turkmenistan, will ensure the 20,000 village inhabitants have access to medical facilities.

The new center has 14 rooms for pharmacologic, diagnostic, pediatric, health assistance, and other medical services, for both male and female patients. The building is also surrounded by landscaped gardens to make the centre’s environment more pleasant.

The Head of Public Health Department was present together with the commander of PRT Herat, Col. Pietro Luigi Monteduro, and with local elders, who accepted donated medical supplies to be used in the new structure.
