Task Force Uruzgan holds shura with ANP commanders

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan – To establish better lines of communications between ISAF and the Afghan National Police (ANP), a shura was held yesterday at the Tarin Kowt Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) compound.

The shura was led by General Mohammad Qasum, Commander of ANP forces in Uruzgan province and Lt Col Gerard Koot, commander, Tarin Kowt PRT, and included ANP checkpoint commanders stationed throughout the districts of Tarin Kowt and Chora.

“Many issues were discussed including improving the lines of communications, increasing joint operations and patrols; additionally, salary and logistical concerns were also brought forward,” stated Maj Marloes Visser, Task Force Uruzgan spokesperson.

“Yesterday’s shura was an important step to cementing the increasing partnership already established between ISAF and the ANP in Uruzgan province. We all agreed that we will continue to hold such meetings,” added Major Visser.
