Local Kandahar Province company exemplifies increase in economic development

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan – A local Southern Afghanistan-based crushed gravel delivery company is an example of Afghanistan’s improving economy. Currently, it is involved in many projects in the Panjwaii district, including heavy equipments rental, crushed gravel delivery and other projects for ISAF and local vendors.

“The project for the Ma’sum Ghar ISAF forward operating base is a recent success for our company. We have many heavy equipment operators who are busy serving ISAF throughout their bases and many local people have been provided with long-term employment opportunities,” stated the local manager who regrettably can’t be named due to the possibility of retribution from extremists for working with ISAF.

“About 100 truck drivers and labourers are employed on a daily basis and earn a good living. During the implementation of contracts, our workers are facing security threats on the way to job sites. We have many incidents of threats of violence by the enemy against our employees, trying to threaten this company to stop working with ISAF and the Government of Afghanistan.  Some of these incidents have taken the lives of some of our employees. We are working harder in doing our duty to contribute for the revival of our war torn country,” added the company’s manager.
