Dental hygiene class held for local Afghan children

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan – International Security Assistance Force troops supported a free dental hygiene class for more than 40 local Afghan children in conjunction with the weekly bazaar held at Kandahar Airfield on Saturday.

Soldiers from ISAF passed out toothbrushes, toothpaste and water to the Afghan children. They then demonstrated how to properly brush their teeth. ISAF soldiers also passed out humanitarian supplies consisting of sugar free candy, soccer balls and school packs.

The event was coordinated by soldiers from the Joint Defense Operation Center and the dental supplies were donated from British soldiers, and American dentists Tom and Donna Kelly of Chapin, South Carolina. The humanitarian supplies were provided by soldiers from the U.S. National Support Element based at Kandahar Airfield.
