ISAF targets enemy command and control centres

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan - Last night ISAF operations targeted enemy command and control centres in Garmsir District of Helmand Province. At one point during the operation the Taliban extremists sought refuge in homes where civilians were housed. As a result, ISAF forces deliberately elected not to fire on there locations.

At this point ISAF has no information to substantiate claims of civilian casualties. Planning for missions is painstaking and meticulous to avoid casualties and damage. ISAF always seeks to avoid civilian casualties and damage to property.

“It is important to remember that Taliban extremists often make allegations of civilian casualties in their continuing efforts to discredit the international military forces,” said Col Tom Collins, ISAF Spokesman.
