Extremists no match for ANA & ISAF

BAGRAM AIR BASE, Afghanistan – Afghan National Army and ISAF troops engaged and killed Taliban extremists after receiving heavy-small arms and rocket propelled grenade fire 7.5 miles northeast of Rubagak, Zabul Province, Feb. 27.

The ISAF force came under attack from approximately 30 Taliban insurgents while conducting a combat patrol in the area.  The Taliban extremists proved to be no match for the combined force and retreated after Afghan National Army and ISAF engaged the enemy force with heavy-weapons fire and close-air support, killing 12 extremists.

One ISAF soldier was wounded during the engagement and was medically evacuated from the area for treatment.  There were no injuries to civilians.

“We will continue to disrupt extremists who choose to threaten progress” said an ISAF spokesperson.  “Through our relentless operations, we will defeat those who are standing in the way of our efforts to improve the lives of the Afghan people.”
