New Schools Open in Kabul

KABUL, Afghanistan – A ceremony took place yesterday to open the second of two schools built by ISAF troops in Surobi. On Mon 19 Feb, a boys’ high school with 10 classrooms was opened, and yesterday, Wed 21 Feb, the girls’ high school with 12 classrooms was opened. Both were built by the Finnish Civilian – Military Cooperation team of ISAF Regional Command Capital.

At the ceremony, there were many Afghan officials, including the Director of Education for Kabul province, Ali Ahmad Abdiaini; the District Governor of Surobi, Habib Rachman and the Surobi Police District commander, Abdul Noor Atmar. Representatives of RC-C also attended the ceremony.

“The future of Afghanistan depends on education of children”, said Abdiani. That is why he also invited people to send their daughters to school, he said.
