Tarin Kowt trade training schools opens

TARIN KOWT, Afghanistan – Yesterday, ISAF forces from the Australian 1st Reconstruction Task Force opened the Tarin Kowt Trade Training School in Uruzgan province.

The school is a centre for re-invigorating much needed skills in Uruzgan province. These courses have been run to date in a temporary facility. The opening of the school in a new building will allow an increase in both enrollments and the range of courses offered.

The school was officially opened by Australia’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, Mr Brett Hackett, who highlighted the historic links between the two countries. Many local officials added their support to the school and the international community’s efforts in Tarin Kowt.

In addition to the school, the ISAF troops making up Task Force-Uruzgan are working with local government and Afghan National Army engineers on a wide range of reconstruction projects from hospital and school refurbishments to the restoration of Mosques and the provision of wells and water storage facilities for local villagers.
