ISAF soldier injured during IED strike in Howz-e Madad

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan – This morning, an ISAF soldier taking part in a mounted patrol with the Afghan National Army (ANA) was injured when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) damaged his vehicle. The incident occurred along Highway 1, just west of Howz-e Madad, Panjawayi district.

The joint patrol between ISAF and the ANA was part of Operation Baaz Tsuka. Its mission was to provide security for nearby villages and foster a stable environment to encourage displaced Afghans to return to their homes.

The ISAF soldier was immediately evacuated by air to a nearby ISAF hospital and is in stable condition. No other soldiers were injured in the incident.
