ISAF provides humanitarian assistance in Eastern Afghanistan

BAGRAM, Afghanistan – ISAF’s Regional Command-East (RC-E) has provided nearly 6,000 pounds of humanitarian assistance over the course of a week to the people of eastern Afghanistan.

In addition to 4,200 pounds of food and cooking supplies, RC-E has provided 1,200 pounds of clothing and blankets, 755 health and hygiene kits, 872 school kits, 72 radios, tool kits, and various household items.

In particular, in Paktika province on Thursday, more than 1,200 citizens received food, clothing and other winter supplies from the Sharana Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) and Task Force Catamount. The PRT and task force personnel navigated through Omana, Sarobi, Sar Hawza and Yaya Khel districts to distribute the supplies.

“ISAF troops drop off humanitarian assistance supplies across eastern Afghanistan every single day to help citizens get through the winter,” said Lt. Col. Paul Fitzpatrick, Regional Command-East spokesman. “Offering humanitarian assistance is an integral part of NATO’s commitment to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.”
