French RC-C CIMIC team deploys to Kandahar to support RC-S

KABUL, Afghanistan – On Friday, a team of three experienced soldiers from the French all services Civilian Military Cooperation (CIMIC) group, currently operating within the Regional Command Capital (RC-C), arrived in Kandahar, following a request from Regional Command South (RC-S) to support the Kandahar Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT).

This deployment was undertaken to support humanitarian assistance as part of Operation Baaz Tsuka, the ISAF main effort in the South.

This is the first time since the Riga Summit that RC-C has sent soldiers, on a temporary basis, outside its area of responsibility.

The team will conduct a five-week mission, analyzing the needs of the villages around Kandahar in order to start quick effect projects such as water pump repair and medical aid.
