NATO Military Committee in Chiefs of Defence Staff session

Brussels – NATO’s Military Committee will meet in Chiefs of Defence Staff (CHODs) session on Wednesday 5 and Thursday 6 May 2010 at NATO HQ, Brussels. Discussions will focus on the progress made in NATO led operations, transformation, resources and co-operation.
In addition to the NATO Chiefs of Defence, the CHODS from Non-NATO Troop Contributing Nations to KFOR and ISAF will also be present. NATO’s two Strategic Commanders, Adm. Stavridis (Supreme Allied Commander Operations) and Gen. Abrial (Supreme Allied Commander Transformation), as well as Gen. Syrén, Chairman of the EU Military Committee, will participate in discussions on NATO’s operations. Gen. Bentler, KFOR Commander and Mr. de Kermabon, Head of Mission, EULEX, will join the MC for discussions on Kosovo.
For the meeting with the ISAF Non NATO Troop Contributing Nations, Gen. McChrystal, ISAF Commander, together with Amb. Sedwill, NATO Senior Civilian Representative, will join the Military Committee via VTC.
In NATO-Russia Council format, the development and implementation of the NATO-Russia Work Plan 2011 will be discussed. NATO CHODs will also have the opportunity to discuss future cooperation and defence reforms with their Ukraine and Georgian colleagues.
In the margin of these events, a Memorandum of Understanding on “Air Situation Data Exchange” between NATO and Ukraine, will be signed by Gen. Ivan Svyda, Ukraine CHOD, Gen. İlker Başbuğ, Turkish CHOD, and Adm. James G. Stavridis, SACEUR.
