Since January 1st, 2013, Headquarters Allied Force Command Heidelberg (HQ FC Heidelberg) has entered the first phase for closure preparation, and will no longer perform operational tasks for NATO. The support to LANDCOM, located in Izmir, Turkey, is the main focus, while the HQ working group core team members have now full dedication to closure preparation. This phase, that ends with the deactivation of the HQ on the 31st of March 2013 will be followed by the closure execution phase that will end no later than 31st of December 2013.
From 1st January 2013 the FCHD structure is : Transition headed by Brig Gen Grabowski with the mission to support LANDCOM, and Operations/Support directed by Brig Gen Albore.
From 1st April onward, a Closure Party under the leadership of Col Mika will be responsible for the closing the HQ.
The HQ is the legitimate successor of the former “Allied Land Component Command HQ Heidelberg” (ALCC HQ HD) that transitioned, with new name and mission, to HQ FC Heidelberg on March 1, 2010.
