Floods in Pakistan

On 14 September 2011, NATO received a request for assistance from Pakistan. On 15 September, the North Atlantic Council (NAC) authorized activation of the EADRCC.

Hundreds of people have lost their lives and over five million people have been displaced and directly affected by the floods. Nearly 301,000 individuals are currently living in 2,150 relief sites. The number of death is 226 (59 women and 34 children) according to UN OCHA.

Over four million acres of land is under water; 2.5 million acres of crops have been destroyed; and over a million houses have been damaged or washed away.
