Floods in Montenegro

On 3 December 2010, the EADRCC received a request for assistance from Montenegro. Due to continuous rainfall since mid-November 2010, water levels in the lakes and on the rivers have been rising. As a result 12 Montenegrin municipalities (out of 21) have been continuously flooded.

All lines of communication from the capital to the North of the country are cut off.

Currently, approximately 6700 inhabitants have been evacuated and more than 1500 buildings/houses have been flooded.

The displaced people have been sheltered in the relatives’ and friends’ houses, as well as in the military facilities, sport’s halls and other shelters.

The Montenegrin Government foresees that in the upcoming days next 2000 persons will be evacuated.
