Floods in Ukraine

During the period of 22-29 of June 2010 as a result of strong rainfalls and winds the emergency situation in Chernivtsy region (borders with Romania and Moldova) occurred. On 26 July 2010, the EADRCC received a disaster assistance request from the Mission of Ukraine to NATO.

Due to heavy rainfalls houses and private properties, objects of social infrastructure, road facilities and bridges were damaged. In total 224 communities, 3,871 houses were flooded. As a result of long water impact landslides occurred in the city of Chernivtsy as well as in 23 other communities.

Up to 250 000 people affected by the disaster situation, 2500 of them, including 300 infants were evacuated, 1 person died.
