H1N1 - Pandemic flu in Ukraine

On 31 October 2009, the EADRCC received a request for assistance from Ukraine. Based on the information provided, the EADRCC distributed an Urgent Disaster Assistance Request  to all EAPC nations, UN-OCHA and the European Union Monitoring and Information Centre (EU MIC), which included specifications on the requested items/services.

As of 04 November 2009, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Emergencies and Affairs of Population Protection against the Consequences of Chernobyl Catastrophe (MOE), 478.456 persons sickened with influenza and acute respiratory diseases, 22.003 persons have been hospitalized, and  81 persons died. The largest number of cases has been registered in the following 9 Oblasts: Lviv, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsy, Rivne, Zakarpattya, Khmelnytskyi, Volyn and Vinnitsa. From 30 October on, the Ukrainian Government has imposed quarantine regimes in these regions.
