Helping the Kyrgyz Republic cope with floods

On 18 June, the EADRCC received from the Kyrgyz Republic a request for assistance in dealing with the consequences of heavy floods that occurred recently in the South of the country, in the Osh, Batken and Jalalabat regions.

About 79 towns and villages have been affected. A large number of houses (3800) and more than 180 km of the main roads are damaged. 66 bridges need urgent repair. Large areas of agricultural land are flooded. Some 1350 families have to be taken care of, and approximately 1500 households have to be disinfected.

In line with its procedures, the EADRCC has forwarded the request to NATO and partner countries and has begun publishing daily situation reports on the development of the situation, the assistance provided and the outstanding needs.
