NATO week in Armenia

The programme -- organized by the Armenian authorities with the support of NATO's Public Diplomacy Division -- includes an international seminar on cyber defence, roundtable discussions on TV, a video conference with Armenian troops in KFOR, a book launch, a three-day youth rally and an open air concert.
 
Jean-Francois Bureau, NATO's Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy is attending many of the events as well as meeting with students from Yerevan State University. He will also meet key officials from the Armenian ministry of foreign affairs and other agencies involved in implementing Armenia's Individual Partnership Action Plan with NATO.
 
Some 600 young people are expected to take part in a three-day youth rally, organized by the Armenian Atlantic Association. Starting in Yerevan, the rally will move on to three major cities in the regions -- Kapan, Gavar and Vanadzor. In each city, local university students and representatives of youth non-governmental organizations will be invited to participate in townhall meetings, where they will be able to learn about NATO and Armenia's cooperation with the Alliance.
 
Armenians will also be given the opportunity to learn more about this subject in the more informal setting of a café in the centre of Yerevan, where an open air concert will be organized on Friday 27 June.

Armenia's Information Centre on NATO was very active in organizing many of the week’s events. It has also just produced, with the support of NATO's Public Diplomacy Division, a publication on "Armenia-NATO: Ten years of progress", which was officially launched this week.
