Bahrain chief of public security visits NATO HQ

On 10-12 March 2008 Bahrain’s Chief of Public Security, Major General Abdul Latif Al-Zayani, visited NATO HQ to hold talks with senior officials from the Alliance.

During his visit Major General Al-Zayani held meetings with the Deputy Secretary General, Ambassador Claudio Bisogniero; the Assistant Secretary General for Operations, Martin Howard; the Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Regional, Economic and Multilateral Affairs, Ms. Aurelia Bouchez; the Head of Civil Emergency Planning, Carsten Fausboll; the Head of Crisis Management, Ilay Ferrier and the Head of the Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Center (EADRCC), Guenter Bretschneider .

Discussion focused on issues of common concern in the area of civil emergency planning and crisis management, as well as on areas for practical cooperation in the framework of the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative.

On 10 March 2008, Major General Al-Zayani addressed the Senior Civil Emergency Planning Committee (SCEPC) with a presentation on “Changes of Policing in an Emerging Democracy”. The visit concluded with a visit to the Partnership Coordination Cell (PCC) in SHAPE.
