Peace Through Dialogue Medal
awarded to NATO

Private Michael O'Rourke of the Canadian Armed Forces was honored at the 44th Munich Security Conference with the Peace Through Dialogue Medal.

Private Michael O'Rourke of the Canadian Armed Forces  was honored  at the 44th Munich Security Conference with the Peace Through Dialogue Medal. Private O'Rourke received the medal on behalf of NATO. The  Peace Through Dialogue Medal was awarded to the Alliance by the Munich Security Conference to honor outstanding contributions to international peace and security.

"Private O' Rourke is a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, who are playing a very important role in Southern Afghanistan. He participated in operation Medusa in 2006 and was decorated with the Military Medal of Valour in 2006.

Here he is representing all the men and women in uniform to whom we in NATO owe a tremendous debt of gratitude." NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer told delegates at the conference, which brought together defence officials from all over the world.
