Slovenia hosts photo exhibition
on NATO’s Afghan mission

Burkas, soldiers’ uniforms and souvenirs went on display as part of a new exhibition to raise awareness of Slovenia's participation in NATO's ISAF mission in Afghanistan, which opened on the 31st of January in Maribor, Slovenia.

The show, supported by NATO's Public Diplomacy Division (PDD), was set up by the Slovenian Military Museum and the Maribor Liberation Museum to highlight what Slovenian armed forces have been doing in Afghanistan. It was opened by Slovenian Defence Minister Karl Viktor Erjavec.

The exhibit includes nine large posters of Slovenian soldiers in the field and small presents provided by the soldiers.

Raising awareness

In a nearby park twelve double-sided billboards, depicting the life of local Afghani’s and Slovenian ISAF soldiers, are displayed under the title “People and Land”.
The idea behind the show is to illustrate to the Slovenian public what the nation's Armed Forces are doing in Afghanistan and to better explain their soldiers’ contribution to the ISAF mission.

The exposition will stay open to the public for one year and rotate to five Slovenian cities before it concludes in the capital Ljubljana in September.
