Members of Parliament from Algeria visit NATO Headquarters

On 13 December 2007, the NATO Public Diplomacy Division organised a visit to NATO HQ of high-level members from the two chambers of the Algerian Parliament, the Nation’s Council and the National Popular Assembly. The delegation was led by the President of the National Defence Commission Mr. Mustapha Cheloufi.

NATO-Russia foreign ministers meet

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov attended a meeting of the NATO-Russia Council (NRC) with his Allied counterparts at NATO Headquarters on 7 December. While serious disagreements persist on some issues, ministers reiterated the continued importance of the NRC as a unique forum for frank and dynamic political exchanges.

NATO-Ukraine foreign ministers meet

Ukraine's Acting Foreign Minister Volodymyr Khandogiy attended a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission with Allied counterparts at NATO Headquarters on 7 December. Ministers took stock of progress achieved in cooperation, and discussed the foreign and security policy priorities of Ukraine and the prospects for the development of the NATO-Ukraine relationship.

Afghanistan and Kosovo remain NATO's priority

NATO Foreign Ministers began their discussion on 7 October in Brussels on the Alliance commitment in Kosovo and the situation in Afghanistan, including its political and military dimension.

NATO Ministers consult with Partners

After the meeting of the North Atlantic Council, NATO Ministers were first joined by the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov for the meeting of the NATO-Russia Council (NRC). They discussed current international security issues such as the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE), the situation in Kosovo and terrorism.

Working Lunch with NATO and Mediterranean Dialogue Foreign Ministers

On 7 December 2007, NATO Foreign Affairs Ministers and their counterparts from Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Mauritania, Morocco and Tunisia met at NATO Headquarters in Brussels.

On 4-5 December 2007 the NATO Public Diplomacy Division organised a two-day press tour at NATO Headquarters for senior media representatives from Mediterranean Dialogue and Istanbul Cooperation Initiative countries, as well as, Oman and Saudi Arabia.

President of the Republic of Moldova visits NATO

The President of the Republic of Moldova, Vladimir Voronin, visited the NATO Headquarters and met with the Secretary General. They discussed issues related to regional security.

Visit to NATO by the Prime Minister of Georgia

The Georgian Prime Minister, Mr. Vladimer Gurgenidze, visited NATO Headquarters today, Wednesday 5 December 2007. He met with the Secretary General, Mr. Jaap de Hoop Scheffer.

Polish Prime Minister visits NATO

The new Polish Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, paid an official visit to NATO HQ on Tuesday, 4th December. He met for a bilateral meeting with the Secretary General, Jaap de Hoop Scheffer.

The President of Croatia visits NATO

The President of Croatia, Mr. Stjepan Mesic visited the NATO Headquarters and met with the Secretary General. They discussed Croatia’s reform efforts in the context of the Membership Action Plan.

Signing of NATO Trust Fund with Jordan

On 3 December 2007 NATO launched the first ever Mediterranean Dialogue Trust Fund with Jordan to assist this country with the elimination of Explosive Remnants of War (ERW), through the funding of a survey and by delivering ERW location and search equipment to the Jordanian Armed Forces.

NATO supports first Greek-Turkish Youth Forum in Athens

The first ever Greek-Turkish Youth Forum organised by NATO and the Youth Atlantic Treaty Associations (YATAs), took place in Athens on 2-3 December.

NATO’s Response Force prepares for future missions

A NATO Response Force (NRF) exercise designed to test and develop NATO’s expeditionary capabilities and ensure that NATO concepts are practiced is taking place in Ulsnes, Norway from December 1 to 14.
