On 15 September, approximately 60 000 people attended the seventh annual NATO Day in Ostrava, Czech Republic. The programme featured an air show, live demonstrations by Alliance soldiers and military technology exhibits.
The event aims to demonstrate NATO’s unique ability to provide security and stability in the Euro-Atlantic area and beyond.
A record number of countries participated in the event this year. For the first time the German and Spanish Air Forces and a Slovak Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team took part alongside armed forces from the Czech Republic, Poland, Great Britain and the United States.
Several distinguished guests attended, including the Czech Republic’s Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek and Defence Minister Vlasta Parkanová, the Deputy Director of the US Missile Defense Agency Nancy Morgan, and NATO’s Assistant Secretary General for Defence Investment Peter Flory.
