NATO conducts live air exercise in Georgia
A live air exercise involving NATO member states and partners in simulated humanitarian relief air operations will take place from 9 to 20 July, in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Five NATO member states -- Germany, Hungary, Latvia, Turkey and the United States – are taking part. Partners participating in the exercise include Albania, Azerbaijan, Croatia, Moldova, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia1 and Ukraine, which are all Partnership for Peace countries, as well as Jordan, a Mediterranean Dialogue country.
The exercise, dubbed Cooperative Archer 2007, involves a fictional natural disaster scenario played out in an area to the south-east of Tbilisi.
The aim of the exercise is to promote training opportunities for all participating units, to maximise interaction between NATO and partners, and to exercise the air forces of the partner countries in the planning and conduct of a NATO-led military airbone support to a humanitarian relief operation. Participants will train with different types of transport and rotary wing aircraft.
The Commander of the Allied Air Component Command Headquarters in Ramstein, Germany, will conduct the exercise.
The live-flying part of the exercise will take place between 16 and 19 July.
