Joint efforts of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), the Afghan National Army and the Afghan National Police have permitted the recent record seizure of two loads of drugs in Afghanistan.

On 24 October, the Army, with the support of ISAF, took possession of 55 kilograms of opium at a checkpoint inspection in Farah City.

Earlier, Afghan Police and ISAF forces seized 9.2 metric tons of hashish at another checking point on Highway 1, near Qalat.

The drugs were confiscated and drivers and passengers taken into custody.
