New NATO depository libraries

Two new NATO depository libraries were opened on May 10 in Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the University of Mostar Library and the Džemal Bijedić University Library.

These two new libraries extend the network of NATO depository libraries in the country, giving the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina easier access to information and documentation on NATO matters.

The inauguration followed a meeting of the librarians involved in the NATO depository library project held on 9 May at the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo.

This brings to eight the number of NATO depository libraries that have been opened across Europe. The others are in:

  • Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo and at the National and University Library of the Republic of Srpska in Banja Luka;
  • Croatia, at the Faculty of Political Science of the University of Zagreb;
  • Serbia and Montenegro, at the Institute of International Politics and Economics in Belgrade;
  • Slovakia, at the University Library in Bratislava; and
  • At the National and University Library in Pristina.

Each one of these libraries has received a complete collection of NATO’s public documents and will be given priority access to NATO’s inter-library loan system and the documents held within the NATO library.
