NATO and partner forces rehearse sea operations From 12 to 23 September, 1,500 military personnel from NATO and partner countries are rehearsing conducting joint maritime crisis response operations in the Adriatic Sea and Vlora, Albania. In exercise Cooperative Engagement 2005 they will practice preventing arms smuggling to a fictitious country in order to help re-establish order. Preparing for joint operations The exercise tests NATO’s ability to integrate multinational partner forces into NATO-led operations. While assuring the readiness of its own forces, NATO continues to cooperate closely with partner countries in order to build peace and stability through dialogue and co-operation. Part of this cooperation involves practicing for joint operations.
