Armenia presents Individual Partnership Action Plan
Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian visited NATO HQ on 16 June to present a proposal for deeper cooperation between his country and NATO, in the form of an Individual Partnership Action Plan. Mr. Oskanian met for talks with NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer and presented Armenia’s proposed Plan to the North Atlantic Council. Better support for reformsDeveloped on a two-year basis, Individual Partnership Actions Plans (IPAPs) are designed to bring together all the various cooperation mechanisms through which a partner country interacts with the Alliance, sharpening the focus of activities to better support their domestic reform efforts. In November 2004, Georgia became the first country to have an IPAP with NATO. IPAPs with Moldova and Kazakhstan are currently under development. Armenia’s proposal will now be reviewed by the North Atlantic Council. |
