NATO bridges arrive in Indonesia
A ceremony in Aceh, Indonesia, on 18 April marked the formal handover of bridges donated by NATO to Indonesian authorities. They were handed over by the Dutch Minister Plenipotentiary in Indonesia, Mr. Teunis Kamper, to the Indonesian Minister of Public Works, Mr. Djoko Kirmanto. The Alliance donated 565 metres of equipment to assist Indonesia in dealing with the consequences of the December 2004 Tsunami disaster. The bridges, valued at more than 6 million Euros, are a donation to Indonesia and will not be returned to NATO. The Netherlands, with support from the United Kingdom, transported the equipment to Indonesia.
