SFOR to be terminated at the end of the year Events NATO Istanbul Summit Background NATO-EU: A strategic partnership Official texts 28/06/2004 - NATO Istanbul Summit Communiqué Key links Stabilisation Force (SFOR) The NATO-led Stabilization Force (SFOR) in Bosnia and Herzegovina will be brought to a successful end at the end of this year, Heads of State and Government announced at the Istanbul Summit. The Alliance will maintain a presence in the country to assist in certain areas such as defence reform, or the pursuit of persons indicted for war crimes, the Summit communiqué said. Heads of State and Government welcomed a decision by the European Union to establish a follow-on mission, which will be supported by NATO under existing NATO-EU agreements.
