The Atlantic Treaty Association (ATA) organised its first Education conference
in the Romanian capital, Bucharest, from 24 to 27 July.
With the growing complexity of the security environment, there has
been an increase in demand for information from younger audiences,
who have greater exposure to world issues than they did a few years ago.
The conference tried to address these demands by bringing together
ATA representatives and non-governmental organisations from just over twenty
different NATO and partner countries to discuss the challenges of teaching
defence and security issues in schools.
The Atlantic Treaty Associations are voluntary organisations that help
to explain NATO policies and missions and support the Alliance's activities.
The conference was organised by CASA NATO, the Euro-Atlantic Council of
Romania and NATO.
