Education conference in Albania Educational experts discussed ways of introducing Euro-Atlantic values and concepts into the Albanian education system at an international conference held in Tirana on 5 July. The conference brought together teachers, lecturers, government officials, members of the Atlantic Treaty Associations of the region and from NATO member countries to assess the obstacles and challenges of introducing democratic principles into classrooms in Albania. Participants exchanged ideas on concrete ways of achieving this and identified principles such as human and social rights, the rule of law and parliamentary democracy as being key to changing mentalities and moving the country closer to Euro-Atlantic integration. The conference was organised by the Albanian Atlantic Association and was co-sponsored by NATO.
