NATO approves support for Poland in Iraq
The Alliance will not have any permanent presence in Iraq, but will aid Poland in a variety of supporting roles. This will include help with force generation, communication, logistics and movements. The decision followed advice by NATO’s military authorities and is similar in principle to the kind of help already being provided for the Netherlands and Germany in the ISAF mission in Afghanistan. The decision comes into effect immediately and the military authorities are now in discussion with the Polish authorities to get further information on the exact requirements, and commence assistance.
