High-level seminar focuses on NATO’s military transformation “Open Road 2003”, a major meeting held in Norfolk, United States, 20-21 January brought together senior decision-makers to discuss NATO’s military transformation after the Prague Summit. At the Prague Summit, NATO Heads of State and Government adopted a series of measures aimed at ensuring that NATO is equipped for the full spectrum of modern military missions. This includes enhancing the Alliance’s military capabilities, the creation of a NATO Response Force and the reform of its command structure. The seminar focused on the implications of the United States' military transformation on the Alliance. Top on the agenda was the question of how the NATO Allies can work towards greater interoperability with United States forces and the future of the Alliance’s military transformation. The event was hosted by NATO’s Supreme Allied Command Atlantic (SACLANT) in Norfolk, which as part of the post-Prague reform process will transition into Allied Command Transformation (ACT). It will lead NATO’s military transformation, ensuring that NATO forces are integrated and interoperable.
