Retraining
of discharged military personnel
in Russia
On September 19, representatives from the "NATO-Russia Centre,"
the NATO Economics Directorate, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian
Federation, regional government officials, and the NATO Information Office
in Moscow gathered in the southern Russian city of Rostov-na-Donu to attend
a seminar on programmes aimed at retraining discharged Russian military
officers.
The seminar was organised by the "NATO-Russia Centre", a Moscow-based
organisation opened in June of this year and funded by the NATO Economics
Directorate. The mission of the Centre is to provide information and training
courses for former military officers to help them to find a new job in
the civilian sector. General-Colonel Gennady Troshev, Commander of the
Northern Caucasus Military District showed his appreciation for efforts
made by the Centre and the Economics Directorate to promote cooperation
and assist Russian military personnel by presenting the NATO representative
with two medals.
Currently a second NATO-sponsored training course is underway in Novosibirsk.
