Prince of Spain visits NATO The Crown Prince of Spain, His Royal Highness, Don Felipe de Borbon y Grecia, Prince of Asturias, addressed the North Atlantic Council and met with the NATO Secretary General and senior Alliance officials during a two-day visit to NATO on 16 and 18 September. In his meetings, the Prince discussed and was briefed on key Euro-Atlantic security issues, as well as other issues on NATO's agenda. The visit is part of a two-week programme that includes visits to NATO military headquarters and bases in Belgium, Germany and Italy, as well as the NATO-led peacekeeping forces in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo. "Through the years, NATO has emerged as the most reliable defence and security Organisation and has shown a unique capability to adapt to the changing security environment and to face new risks and threats," Don Felipe de Borbon y Grecia said in his address to the North Atlantic Council, NATO's top decision-making body. "I am sure that the Summit of Heads of State and Government of NATO countries in Prague in November will be a defining moment for the future of the Alliance and I am confident that the decisions adopted at that Summit will help ensure that NATO continues to be - as it has been since 1949 - an Alliance for peace, a source of security and stability well into the 21st century."
