Minister visits
NATO and SHAPE
The Minister of Defence of Hungary, Mr Ferenc Juhasz,
came to Belgium on 12-13 September to visit NATO's political headquarters
in Brussels and the military headquarters in Mons.
On 12 September, he came on his second visit to NATO
since the formation of the new Hungarian government on 27 May and had
a meeting with Secretary General, Lord Robertson. He then proceeded, on
his first visit, to the Supreme Allied Headquarters Europe (SHAPE) on
13 September. After having been saluted by SHAPE's Honour Guard at the
main entrance of the headquarters in Mons, he had a meeting with the Supreme
Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), General Joseph W. Ralston. He also attended
a round-table discussion on current military issues, which included an
update on the operations in the Balkans and Hungary's contribution to
NATO operations in the region.
