ATA delegation in Moscow

A delegation of the Atlantic Treaty Association (ATA) headed by Mr Alan Lee Williams, Chairman, travelled to Moscow, 15-17 April, to meet Russian officials and participate in a seminar on "NATO and Russia - building true partnership".

On 15-16 April, the ATA delegation met Lt. Gen. Mazurkevich, Head of the Main Department of International Military Cooperation at the Ministry of Defence, the Committee of Foreign Affairs of the Council of the Federation and Marshal Sergeyev, Adviser on military issues to President Putin. They also met the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs and several top parliamentary officials and other committee representatives. On their last day in Moscow, they participated in a security seminar held at the conference hall of the Moscow Carnegie Centre.

The ATA was founded in 1954 and brings together 40 national Atlantic Associations: 19 from NATO countries, 19 from partner countries and two from the Euro-Atlantic area. ATAs help to explain NATO policies and missions and support the organisation's activities.
