Russia
and the meaning of "integration"
"Integration: what does this concept mean for
us?" was the theme of an international conference
organised in Volgograd, 6-9 July. European political players,
researchers and representatives from non-governmental
organisations (NGO) analysed the issue of Russian integration
into European economy and politics from all angles. Discussions
went into great depth, covering the questions of value
systems, cultural identities and the understanding of
the concept of integration by Russian decision-makers
and the impact of these factors on the process itself.
The conference was organised by the Russian NGO, Eurocontact,
with the participation of the Volgograd Academy of Civil
Service and the Volgograd Centre for NGO Support, and
was co-sponsored by NATO.
