Welcome to this meeting of the North Atlantic Council with Montenegro. Today we witness Montenegro’s entry in Partnership for Peace. On behalf of the North Atlantic Council, I would like to welcome President Filip Vujanović who I will invite to sign the PfP Framework Document on behalf of Montenegro. Le Monténégro, qui a proclamé son indépendance en juin de cette année, est la plus jeune démocratie d'Europe. Il est cependant loin d'être la plus jeune nation d'Europe, et la détermination et l'efficacité dont il a fait preuve en mettant en place ses institutions démocratiques sont un témoignage de la longue histoire et de la fierté de ce pays. President Vujanvović, Montenegro’s admission to Partnership for Peace signals that your country has a Euro-Atlantic future. I am convinced that Montenegro has an important role to play in contributing to stability and security in the Western Balkans.
