Statement By Secretary General On Iraq Iraq has once again blatantly and gravely violated UN Security Council Resolutions and mounted an aggressive attack against civilians inside the exclusion zone in northern Iraq. Against this background, the US action this morning was a justified, measured and proportionate reaction. I hope that this clear message will be heeded by Saddam Hussein and that he will immediately withdraw his forces from the area, stop any further brutal attacks and comply fully with UN resolutions.
