Statement

by the NATO Secretary General

On behalf of all NATO Allies, I condemn in the strongest possible terms today’s bombing in Baghlan province, Afghanistan, which killed scores of innocent Afghans, including children, lawmakers and police.

This attack, that claimed so many innocent lives, shows once again the true character of our opponents in Afghanistan.  However, I am sure that these acts of indiscriminate violence will not undermine the resolve of the Afghan people to rebuild their country.  NATO remains resolute in its determination to assist them to establish peace and security in Afghanistan.
