Informal meeting of NATO Defence Ministers (IDM 1-2007),
1. Information NATO Defence Ministers will hold informal meetings in Sevilla, Spain, on Thursday 8 and Friday 9 February 2007, under the chairmanship of the NATO SecretaryGeneral, Mr. Jaap de Hoop Scheffer. The Minister of Defence of Spain, His Excellency Mr. José Antonio Alonso, will host the meetings. 2. Locations The Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos de Sevilla (FIBES) located nearby of the city center of Sevilla, is the venue for the ministerial sessions. The Media Centre will also be located in the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos (FIBES). The Media Accreditation Office will be located in the Sevilla Congresos Hotel, Avenida Alcalde Luis Uruñuela, 41020 Sevilla, just across from the Media Centre. 3. Accreditation and Security Checks Opening hours of the Media Accreditation Office:
Applications for accreditation can only be made electronically on-line, by clicking on the following link: https://my.hq.nato.int/jas In order to complete your accreditation request, you will need to provide a digital picture. Only a 3,5 x 4,5 cm passport-size photograph in JPEG format will be accepted. Every applicant has to create a user name and password. Applications for accreditation should be submitted to NATO not later than Friday, 2 February 2007. Applications received after that date may not be processed. Press passes will not be mailed to applicants, but must be collected personally at the Media Accreditation Office, available from 10:00 hours on Monday, 5 February, on presentation of a valid I.D. card or passport and a valid press card (or letter of accreditation from a recognized media organisation). Media representatives are asked to bring a print-out of the confirmation for successfully having submitted their personal details for the on-line accreditation request. Media representatives are informed that security personnel will examine and may test all equipment and personal effects carried onto the site and are advised to arrive with sufficient time to clear the security checks. Press passes should be worn visibly and ready to be presented at any time upon request of security personnel. Television and radio broadcasters, wire services and photo agencies with bulky equipment are particularly urged to move most of it into the Media Centrebefore 12:00 hours Wednesday, 7 February 2007. 4. 5. Broadcasting Television and radio interview rooms and facilities are located at the Media Centre. Satellite uplink trucks and O.B. vans will be parked close to the Media Centre. Electricity in Spain is 220V and plugs have two round pins.

6. Communications Laptop computers will need to be equipped with RJ 45 plugs in order to be able to connect to the high-speed communication network. ISDN lines will be available for radio transmissions. Please check if you need to use an adapter in “Euro ISDN” standard. 7. Programme and pools The final programme of the meetings will be available upon accreditation. Photographers and cameramen will receive pool cards for events with limited access. Pool cards will be distributed on Thursday, 8 February from 10:00 at the Information Desk of the Media Centre. 8. Visas, Accommodation and Transport
For security reasons, the Spanish Authorities will suspend the Schengen Convention during the time of the meeting in Seville, requiring all to travel with a valid passport and citizens from certain countries to request a VISA before seeking entry into Spain. Media representatives are encouraged to stay in Sevilla and are advised to book their hotel rooms as soon as possible. Media representatives are advised to use their own means of transportation to and from the airport. Private cars parking will not be available adjacent to the Media Centre. A shuttle bus service will be provided between the recommended hotels and the Accreditation Office/Media Centre, and it is to be used in line with security regulations. 9.
