NATO Secretary General to visit AWACS Air Base Geilenkirchen, Germany on Thursday, 16 March 2006 The NATO Secretary General, Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, will travel to the Geilenkirchen AWACS Air Base in Germany on Thursday, 16 March 2006 . He will meet the NATO Airborne Early Warning and Control Force Commander (NAEW), Major General Axel Tüttelmann and the Commander of the E-3A Component, Brigadier General Stephen Schmidt. The Secretary General will also greet the NATO personnel working at the AWACS Air Base. No press opportunity. The programme of the visit is subject to change.
