The winner of the 2004 award The Selection Committee for the “NATO Manfred Wörner Fellowship” established in 1995 to honour the memory of the late Secretary General of NATO and, in particular, his leading rôle in the transformation of the Alliance has this year attributed the award to Ms. Burcu Gültekin (Turkey) for her proposal on “Prospects for Regional Cooperation on NATO’s South-eastern Border: Developing a Turkish – Russian Co-operation in South Caucasus”. Ms. Gültekin is a researcher at the “Institut Français d’Etudes Anatoliennes” (Istanbul) and a partner of the “Economy & Conflict in South Caucasus Project”, Business & Conflict Programme, International Alert. The Fellowship is open to candidates from the academic community, including think tanks, research centres and institutes, and the media and it is endowed with €20,000. |
