Second Media Advisory Summit Meetings of Heads of State and Government Istanbul, Turkey, 28-29 June 2004
1. Information Meetings at the Heads of State and Government level of the North Atlantic Council (NAC) and between NATO and Heads of State and Government of Partner Countries will be held in Istanbul on 28-29 June 2004. The meetings will take place in the “Istanbul Lutfi Kirdar Convention and Exhibition Centre” (ICEC). The Media Centre will be located in the “Military Museum and Cultural Site” which is adjacent to ICEC. 2. Accreditation and security checks The Media Accreditation Centre will be located in the TRT Istanbul Radio Building (“Radyoevi”) at the following address: Cumhuriyet Cad. No. 32 Opening hours for the Media Accreditation Centre are: Wednesday, 23 June 09:00 - 21:00 Applications for accreditation can only be made electronically on-line, by clicking on the following link: https://my.hq.nato.int/jas In order to complete your accreditation request, you will need to provide a digital picture. Only a 3,5 x 4,5 cm passport-size identity photograph in JPEG format will be accepted. Every applicant has to create a user name and a password. Applications for accreditation must be submitted to NATO before Friday, 18 June 2004. Requests received after that date will not be processed. Press passes will not be mailed to applicants. They may be collected personally at the Media Accreditation Office as from 09:00 hours on Wednesday, 23 June 2004. An ID card or passport and a press card (or letter of accreditation from a recognized media organization) should be presented and must be shown at any time upon request of security personnel. All media representatives are informed that security personnel at the Media Centre will examine and may test any equipment and personal effects carried onto the site. To avoid delays, media representatives are requested to arrive with sufficient time to clear the security checks. Television or radio broadcasters, wire services, and photo agencies with bulky equipment are particularly urged to move most of it into the Media Centre before 12:00 hours on Saturday, 26 June 2004. 3. Media Centre The Media Centre staffed by NATO and Turkish personnel will be located within the premises of the Military Museum and Cultural Site. Opening hours for the Media Centre are: The Media Centre will be equipped with adequate workspace, communications, and transmission facilities. Deadline For Broadcast Requests The deadline for broadcast requests is 15 June 2004. TELEVISION - Host Broadcaster The Host TV Broadcaster for the Summit is Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT). TRT will provide coverage of delegation arrivals, the opening session, official photographs, evening events, and main international news conferences. EBU will provide signal and technical assistance. Uplink Trucks Uplink trucks which will be given access to the Media Centre, will be allowed to enter the premises between 09:00 and 21:00 hours on 26 June 2004. 6. Electricity and electrical appliances Voltage in Turkey is 220V, and plugs have two round pins. An adapter is needed for different voltages and plugs. 7. Comuunications Wireless network communication will be available at certain areas in the Media Centre. Laptop computers will need to be equipped with an RJ 45 Ethernet plug in order to be able to connect to the LAN network installed in the main filing centre. In addition, ISDN lines (for photograph and radio transmissions and other transfers necessitating high-speed Internet connection) will be available. ISDN lines will be in “Euro ISDN” standard. Please check if you need a proper adapter to use Euro ISDN lines. 8. Transport Media representatives are advised to use their own means of transportation to and from the airport.
