NATO Secretary General, Mr. Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, to visit the United Kingdom The Secretary General of NATO, Mr. Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, will visit the United Kingdom on Thursday 12 February 2004. In Northwood he will meet with Admiral Sir Jonathan Band, Commander NAVNORTH and address the HQ NAVNORTH staff. He will also visit PJHQ and meet with Lt. General Sir John Reith and attend briefings. In London he will meet with Prime Minister Tony Blair, Foreign Secretary Jack Straw and Defence Secretary Geoff Hoon. A press conference with the Foreign and Defence Secretaries is foreseen at 15.40 hrs at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. The Secretary General will also give an Inaugural Policy Address at the International Institute for Strategic Studies. The Secretary General’s schedule is subject to change.
