NATO-Russia Council to meet on 13 May 2003 in Moscow

On Tuesday, 13 May 2003, a session of the NATO-Russia Council (NRC) at ambassadorial level will take place in Moscow. This will be the first NRC meeting at that level in the Russian Federation since the establishment of the NRC in Rome on 28 May 2002. Both Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov and Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov will be present at the opening of the NRC.

The 20 members of the NRC are planning to focus in their discussions on the preparations for the upcoming NRC Ministerial meetings in June and review implementation of the 2003 NRC Work Programme.

The Chairman of the Council, Lord Robertson, will give a press conference at the end of the meeting.

Members of the NRC will also meet with the Minister of Defence, Mr. Sergei Ivanov (followed by a point de presse of Minister Ivanov and the Secretary General). They will also meet the leadership of the Federal Assembly.
