NATO Permanent Representatives and NATO Secretary General to visit Italy
NATO Permanent Representatives and the Secretary General of NATO Lord Robertson will visit Italy on 29-30 September 2002. They will attend the International Conference on "From Dialogue to Partnership. Security in the Mediterranean and NATO: Future Prospects", to take place at the Italian Parliament in Rome, sponsored by the Italian Parliament in cooperation with the Rome based Institute of International Affairs and the NATO Office of Information and Press.
This international Conference will represent an important opportunity for NATO officials to meet with ambassadors, parliamentarians and academics from the seven Mediterranean Dialogue partner countries. This event is particularly timely before the Prague Summit, as the Alliance considers how to further enhance NATO's Mediterranean Dialogue launched in December 1994.
During the visit, the Secretary General of NATO Lord Robertson, will meet the President of the Republic of Italy Dr. Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, the Prime Minister of Italy, the Hon. Silvio Berlusconi and the President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies Hon. Pierferdinando Casini.
